WALLS 360 created 100 sets of wall tangrams for artist and educator Eric Orr, for a program he was leading at the Richard R. Green High School for Teaching in New York.
“Last week, I gave a presentation for the first annual career day at Richard Green High. The kids loved the Wall Tangrams from WALLS 360 – I not only was able to TALK about art and design – I was able to SHOW THEM! Definitely a great new interactive product for Arts Education…”
Eric Orr’s own art career began with studies at the School of Visual Arts and the Art Students League, along with pioneering artwork on the walls of NYC subway stations in the early 1980’s. Eric substituted urban typography with an iconic character – the ‘Robothead’ – and his ‘black panel’ subway collaborators during this period included Keith Haring.
In parallel with his public artwork in the subway stations of New York City, Eric created legendary hip-hop flyers and album cover designs for Afrika Bambaataa, Strong City Records, Jazzy Jay, Don Baron, Busy Bee, Nu-Sounds, Ultimate Force, Masters of Ceremony, the Diggin’ In The Crates (DITC) crew, and rapper Lord Finesse.
Eric Orr and his ‘Robothead’ epitomize the convergence of the Educator, the Street Artist, the MC, and the DJ. Eric continues to work with galleries and brands globally, including a ‘Painted Room’ at the Hotel des Arts in San Francisco, and an ongoing ‘Control Vinyl’ collaboration with Serato Audio Research.
